The 2016 season of the Indian Premier League, abbreviated as IPL 9 or Vivo IPL 2016, will be the ninth season of the IPL, a Twenty20 cricket league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. The tournament is scheduled to be played between 9 April and 29 May 2016. The season will have two new teams which will replace the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals, which will remain suspended for two years, up to 2017.
