Single rupee spent on good plumbing can save medical treatment cost of ten rupees.

In his presidential address to the conference, Mr. Sudhakaran Nair, President, Indian Plumbing Association & Deputy Chairman, World Plumbing Council, said, "Poor plumbing and sanitation systems lead to spread of epidemic. But unfortunately, only 10 to 15 % of the plumbing work is done by the trained plumbers. This is because of the fact that there is neither a system to recognize the trained people or nor educational curriculum specially meant for the plumbing industry. In last 5 to 7 years, IPA has published 5 plumbing codes and also undertaken some special projects to create awareness about the plumbing."

Addressing the conference as the chief guest, Dr. Bimal Patel, President, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, said, "Getting right kind of plumbing and sanitation is a big challenge and it requires collective actions from all sections of the society. Speaking at the event, Dr. Sudharsan Iyenger, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad, expressed his readiness to conduct special courses for plumbing provided IPA provides technical know-how and resource persons.
